Bright copper prices higher than tinned copper or ‘dirty copper.’ By keeping your copper sorted by grade (and your brass separate from the copper) you’ll earn top dollar for every kilo instead of being downgraded to the lowest common grade.
When Does Stripping Cable Make Sense?
Bare copper earns a better rate than insulated copper. Where it makes sense to strip insulation off wire (heavy-gauge copper cable, particularly) it can significantly increase your payout. If your copper wire is thin, or you don’t have much, it probably doesn’t make financial sense to bother.
Keep It Clean
Dumping rubber, plastic, dirt, and moisture on top of copper downgrades your entire load. Keeping detached fittings off your scrap metal and wiping down fittings so they’re clean and dry will ensure your metal gets paid in the highest grade possible.

Weigh and Identify
We perform all weighing on-site using calibrated, open-backed scales. Under the Scrap Metal Industry Act 2016 (NSW), you’ll also be asked to present a valid government-issued photo ID when you sell your scrap metal. A driver’s licence or passport is fine.
Payment
We don’t deal in cash, NSW has banned cash payments for scrap so your payment will be transferred straight to your nominated bank account. Make sure you’ve got your bank details on you.
